The Bertoia furniture line introduced by Knoll in 1952 was an extension of his sculpture work. With the use of metal wire rods Harry Bertoia believed "If you look at the chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture." "Space passes through them."
This particular chair is in excellent vintage condition. The piece is painted black and has minimal paint loss. No rusting or weld breaks. It is a work of art that is surprisingly comfortable.
